More and more hotels around the globe are proving that Earth first isn't just a phrase tossed around as a marketing gimmick.
Major hospitality brands are showing that they're earnest about their green endeavors and a few are actually stepping beyond the more expected measures of today (like only serving water if asked or using green laundry supplies) to allow guests to feel like they are making a difference, too.
In honor of Earth Day, the new Embassy Suites in Downtown Houston is getting creative when it comes to being green. They're pledging to purchase renewable energy credits for every room that ends up being occupied on April 22. The credits will support earth-friendly projects around the nation.
The newest addition to Houston's skyline, Embassy Suites Houston-Downtown is currently pursuing LEED certification and boasts suites with a "smart switch" that turns off all lights when a guest departs.
